We're often told not to focus on the result, that the process is its own reward. To focus on the outcome is seen as a weakness. Caring about it is a blemish on the purity of the journey we've set out on. But, let's be honest, we can't help caring.
Because innately, if we work hard to get somewhere, we must care about the result, goal, and destination. So, maybe the problem with focusing on the process is equal to focusing on the result itself. There is a rush to move towards an endpoint, and let's be honest, as tense as it might make us, it also gives us a dose of adrenaline.
My first book comes out in a little over a week, and I'm a bottle of nerves. I can't help myself from looking at that date on the calendar, wondering what everyone will think about it, what they'll take from it and what people get from it is inherently something I care deeply about. If I didn't care, then I haven't enjoyed the process of creating it, the journey to realising its every page.
And therein, I think, lies the answer. The issue isn't about the journey or the destination. It's about trying to weigh one over the other. They both hold value, and in their balance lies your satisfaction and your guiding light to your next steps in life. And as I say in my book,
"It's not about what's bigger or more important between the journey and the destination, but how they balance each other in the overall scheme of things and what they achieve in every moment. That's the whole point of journeys and destinations—every step of the journey gives us a new destination."

Your newsletters have been an absolute amazing read! Majority of them have always felt like a reminder, the little nudge that I needed that exact moment including the amazing recommendations that you attach at the end. I call your newsletters - catalyst because time and again them have helped to take the required action. Hence I am excited to read your book and just like you I have marked my calendar as well 🙈.
Thank you for doing what you do!
