"Existential Overwhelm". Even before I dug into what this term truly meant, I felt a sense within me that connected with this term. It spoke to me as a term that defined what I've felt many times over the past year. But, what does it mean? I came across this term in the book "Four thousand weeks" by Oliver Burkeman. The book talks about how on average human beings have 4000 weeks to live, and while that might seem morbid, it details out how we all get time management wrong. Life isn't about managing to do more in the time we have. It's about using the time we have to treat it like the finite commodity that it is. And then came "Existential overwhelm"! Here's how the author describes it,
FOMO is very real. And sticking to your choices is very hard.
It's uncomfortable and even scary at times. (FEAR OF MISSING OUT.)
The more I focus on my present moment better I can avoid it. That's been my observation.
Happy Christmas, bhaiya!
