Why do festivals matter?
Why do festivals matter? Beyond our beliefs and religious practices. Beyond our history and culture. Festivals are about something larger, something more important for us as human beings.
If you look back at the history of organised religion and think about the core aspects that are common to festivals across cultures, it is two singular things: a practice to come together and to be present with each other, with a common sense of gratitude in the same moment in time.
That’s the part we should never forget; every festival reminds us to be grateful, to be present with our faith, our community, and those we love, while also ensuring we do hit pause on the hustle of life (as much as our privilege allows) to also take a moment for ourselves to breathe, feel the warmth around, and eat some kaju katli.
Happy Diwali everyone!
