1-1-1: Work/Life balance, being Good enough and finding Self-Satisfaction
1-Thought-Starter
Most things we want to do and which get stuck in limbo go through three stages:
“I’d better do a good job.”
“I don't think it’s good enough.”
“I need to at least make sure it’s good. Otherwise, what’s the point?”
And that’s where it stays until it becomes good or better, or we just let it be and move on to something else. And this isn’t even about perfection. Because, let’s face it, we know what perfection could be like and that it’s highly improbable that we’ll achieve it. But we gotta at least get it to “better than good”, don’t we?
Or at least that’s how I always look at it. Only, I use this gap between ‘good enough’ and ‘better than good’ as a never-ending loop of overthinking and procrastination coupled with unnecessary fine-tuning for fine-tuning’s sake for a thing that honestly is good enough to go.
We fool ourselves that it’s our process, our way to ensure we maintain the quality of the product or just that we want to ensure we don’t seem like we did a substandard job. But in most cases, we know we’re just doing it because we're stuck in our minds. We've blinded ourselves to the fact that the longer we choose to stay stuck, it’s like quicksand that sucks us in – one more fine-tuning at a time. And then I came across the below excerpt:
“Follow the creed of good enough for long enough, and something remarkable happens. The “enough” drops away, like a snake sloughing its skin, and what remains is simply the Good.”
- Eric Weiner (The Socrates Express)
It makes sense, doesn’t it? As we put stuff out in the world, we learn from it. We evolve with it. And that ‘enough’ in our ‘good enough’ slowly becomes just ‘good’. These tiny steps of putting our work out there eventually take us forward in what we have set out to do. Otherwise, all we’re doing is staying stuck in the quicksand within our minds.
1-Insight
We’re constantly juggling the various spheres of our life – work, family, friends, health – trying to find a balance. Our inner juggler may not be a pro, resulting in us dropping the ball sometimes. Press play to hear my take on the 4 Burner Theory, which may not give you all the solutions but it could help you better understand how to bring balance.

There was so much to unpack in this conversation between comedian and commentator Hasan Minhaj and entrepreneur and podcaster Shaan Puri that I had to share this with you. They talk about everything from finding your purpose and what you’re good at, setting the right intentions and mindset before starting something and most importantly, finding self-satisfaction.
As people who come from very different fields – entertainment and business – they meet each other midway in what is a very interesting exchange of knowledge and experiences that everyone can gain something from. One of my favourite bits: “Good friends consume together, great friends create together.”
