1-1-1: Life lessons, Hidden treasures & Self-reflection
1-Thought-Starter
“Life throws crumbs at you as you move ahead, and it's those crumbs that hold the lessons that lead us to where we can be if we pay enough attention and follow them.”
- from my book Everything Is Out of Syllabus
1-Insight
Do you often find yourself looking for newer pieces to consume? In this episode, I talk about why it may be time to re-read some of your favourites again. Maybe a book that you found extremely insightful or a movie that touched your heart, you may find something there that you missed the first time round.
1-Recommendation
Self-reflection is an important tool that aids your growth. That’s undeniable!
Add to it a mix of verified science and it becomes fact. If you look up the habits of any successful, hard-working, extraordinary person, one common trait would be that all of them practise self-reflection.
The practice itself is all about learning, looking back on the day (without bias or regret) to contemplate your behaviour and its consequences. In practise, it’s when you truly let your past decisions guide your way to making better choices. Coaches and athletes across the world analyse their previous games. They check to see where they lost a point, what could be improved, and at what point they won or lost the game.
This article by James R. Bailey and Scheherazade Rehman talk in-depth about the value of this tool that is well within your grasp. I definitely recommend this to everyone – no matter your occupation, education, or age. Self-reflection should be a habit to encourage and refine.
